Smith joined by Senf & Valentino this week

The Dauphin Kings are preparing for a busy week as they play three games, two of which come on the road.

Before that, it’s time for another edition of the Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week.

1st Star: Mason Smith

The 20-year-old put together a solid defensive effort on Friday in the team’s narrow 3-1 loss against Winkler. Then on Saturday, he scored a beautiful goal walking off the wall in the team’s 5-2 loss.

Mason has tremendous speed and it’s that speed that continues to see him get plenty of offensive opportunities.

While he still expects more from himself, if Smith continues to use that speed and play a confident brand of hockey, he has the ability to go on a point streak. In 26 games this season, he’s scored seven times while adding 13 assists.

2nd Star: Alex Senf

It doesn’t matter what the situation is, Alex Senf gives it his all every single shift. A great asset on the penalty kill, Senf doesn’t shy away from going hard into the corners and coming out with the puck.

He posted one assist on Friday’s game on a goal that was scored by Anthony Bax.

A tireless worker, Senf has fit in nicely with his new team as he’s posted eight goals and nine assists in 25 games.

3rd Star: Jamie Valentino

He was acquired by the Portage Terriers on Thursday and just 48 hours later, the 20-year-old from Thompson already hit the scoresheet.

Jamie scored a beautiful goal from just inside the blue line and he created several other chances throughout the contest.

He had 22 points in 17 games with Swan Valley last year, he then won the Canalta Cup with the Estevan Bruins and competed at the Centennial Cup. Standing in at 6’2″, Valentino adds some great size to the Kings roster and Kings fans already got a good taste of what he will bring to this team offensively.

Season-long standings:

Five points are up for grabs for the first star each week, three points go for the second star and a single point is up for grabs for the third star.
