DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are getting set for a three game week this week as they hit the final two weeks of their regular season.

In case you missed it last week the Kings came up short twice, falling 7-4 to the Blizzard in OCN and then 4-1 to the Steinbach Pistons at Credit Union Place. Both games were closer than they appear with the Blizzard and Pistons pulling away from the Kings late in each contest.

This week the Kings hit the ice for three games. On Tuesday they'll entertain the Selkirk Steelers at Credit Union Place. Then on Friday and Saturday they'll hit the road for contests in Selkirk and Steinbach. All three games this week go at 7:30pm!

THREE STARS

In past years the Three Stars of the Week were announced each Monday throughout the regular season. That aspect of the three stars will not change, but now being added into the mix is a point system with a "Three Stars Trophy" to be awarded at the end of the regular season when the Kings hold their Awards Night. This year the Kings' Awards Night will take place on Tuesday February 27th when Dauphin hosts Waywayseecappo at Credit Union Place.

The point system works like this:

1st Star = 5 points
2nd Star = 3 points
3rd Star = 1 point

At the end of the season the player with the most points will win the trophy which will be presented by Parkland Source for Sports!

Each week the standings will be updated in the "Three Stars of the Week" article.

THIRD STAR - KYLE OLEKSIUK

Kyle Oleksiuk notched two goals in OCN on Wednesday for the Dauphin Kings and continues to play well for the club down the stretch.

Since the start of 2018 the Winnipeg forward has six goals and seven assists for 13 points in 15 games.

Right now Oleksiuk is second on the Kings in points with 31 (14G, 17A) which is three back of Jaymes Knee. Olekisuk has more than doubled his point total from last season and still has six games to go.

SECOND STAR - IAN BRISCOE

Ian Briscoe continued his strong play last week after joining the Kings at the trade deadline in January.

Last week Briscoe had a goal and two assists for the Kings in OCN.

The Winnipeg forward is just under a point per game pace with five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 13 outings.

FIRST STAR - BRENNAN KITCHEN

Brennan Kitchen may have suffered two losses last week but his save percentage may tell a different story.

In two games last week Kitchen stopped 91 of the 99 shots he faced, which put his save percentage for the week at .919.

This season the Ontario goaltender remains on of the best in the MJHL when it comes to save percentage. He's inside the top 10 at .909 this season.
