щасливого Різдва

DAUPHIN, MB – It was a merry Ukrainian Christmas for the Dauphin Kings and goalie Brandon Holtby Saturday night at Credit Union Place as the club shut out the Swan Valley Stampeders 2-0 for their third win in four games.

The first King goal came off the stick of Keaton Leininger in the opening period. The forward’s 12th of the season put his club out front 1-0. Leininger now has points in three straight contests (2G, 1A).

In the second period the Kings continued their solid play and Daniel Chartrand was eventually rewarded with his 10th of the campaign. Chartrand is also playing well as of late, with seven points in his last five outings (4G, 3A).

The third period saw both teams with chances, but neither were able to capitalize on them.

Brandon Holtby (7-14) was excellent in goal for the shut out. He stopped all 30 shots he faced while his team put 35 on the Swan Valley net.

Special Teams were active on Saturday, but both teams were silent. The Kings finished the night 0 for 6 while Swan Valley was 0 for 5.

The victory moves Dauphin to 10-22-5 on the season and they are now within four points of the Stampeders for the final playoff spot in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Now the Kings get set for five straight games on the road starting Sunday night when they visit the OCN Blizzard. The game will be played in The Pas with puck drop at 7:00pm!
