August 28, 2010 - Session #2. Team Red and Team Green battled each other at noon hour on Saturday afternoon. Four 17 year olds have stepped up their games and look right at home in Kings colors.
Jared Morris led the Manitoba AAA midget in goal scoring last season. A power forward who committed to the Kings in the summer posses size, skill and toughness. The 6’0 204 lbs forward has played real well thus far into camp. “Jared is a typical power forward. He has a real good touch around the net and an excellent shot”, explains Asst Coach Marc Berry.
Eric Hansey, a very good puck moving defenseman who shows a real veteran poise. “Eric makes an excellent first pass and plays with an edge. He is going to get a real good look here as we proceed”- states Berry.
Mitch VanTeeling, a gifted two way forward was acquired from the Southeast East Blades for Sean Ouellette in 2008-2009. “Mitch skates very well and is reliable in both ends of the ice. His hard working attitude and coachable personality will allow him to be a real good player for us”. Berry
Michael Sofillas, the second leading point scorer in the Manitoba AAA midget league was a big reason why the Pembina Valley Hawks won the Manitoba AAA Midget League Championship. “Mike is a real good player who has excellent offensive upside. He has the ability to dominate at the junior A level.” – Berry. Sofillas will be leaving for Lethbridge Hurricanes camp early next week.
